New University Partnership Offers Expert Gardening Advice

Get your green thumbs on! Gardening enthusiasts from Vancouver Island and beyond can now get invaluable help with their planting plans thanks to a new partnership that offers free expert advice. The service, offered by Vancouver Island University’s Milner Gardens & Woodland and the Vancouver Island Master Gardeners Association, features trained master gardeners answering horticultural queries via phone and email. They’ll also be available to identify samples. “We have a vast palette of plants that grow here compared to many other parts of Canada,” says Geoff Ball, executive director of Milner Gardens. “We look forward to offering valuable gardening advice to the folks in our community, many of whom have moved here from elsewhere.” Gardeners can ask their questions by calling 1-250-752-0312 on Tuesdays from 1-3 pm to speak live with a master gardener; alternatively, they can leave a message at other times and receive a callback. Questions can also be emailed to gardeningadvice.milnergardens@shaw.ca.
