Neptune’s Harvest Wins Sustainability Award

Since 1986, Neptune’s Harvest in Gloucester, Massachusetts, has been turning fish waste into a highly effective, organic fertilizer. And now the company, a division of Ocean Crest Seafoods, has been recognized for its contributions to a greener, cleaner ocean. Neptune’s Harvest was recently presented with the 2015 Sustainable Industry Award from the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment. The award recognizes sustainable industries that demonstrate innovation and leadership in their efforts to improve the well-being of the Gulf of Maine ecosystem. After processing a fish for its edible portions, up to 70% would normally become waste.
