AUS: Carrot Beer Debuts in Australia

The green juice movement has acclimatised many people to the idea of drinking their vegetables, and the craft beer world is always looking for new frontiers. The new Wabbit Season beer from 4Hearts Brewing Company in Ipswich, Australia, is made from a wort that was 16% carrot juice. Local farmer Richard Gorman contributed all the carrots used to make it. The brew looks almost as orange as Fanta and tastes strongly of carrots. The brewery has so far released 1,200 litres of the stuff, but to date it’s only available at bars in northern Australia and at 4Hearts Brewery, which is one of few breweries that has used fermented carrot juice to try to craft a beer that actually tastes like carrots. Even though fruit-based beers and shandies have started to gain popularity in recent years, vegetable beers remain exceedingly rare. (Source: huffingtonpost.com)
