Toronto’s Converted Veggie Bus

Toronto’s Converted Veggie Bus

A mobile organic food market is making its way around Toronto, bringing fresh fruits and veggies to areas considered to be food deserts. Designed by LGA Architectural Planners, the mobile farmer’s market was converted from an old shuttle bus donated by the Toronto Transit Commission. Stocked with fresh seasonal produce, the unit lets Torontonians munch on fresh healthy foods, even if they live far from grocery stores. Inside the healthy food bus, LGA installed a series of fold-out shelves to prominently show off the bounty for sale. When the bus is parked, the shelves cascade outward, featuring a rainbow of colours made up of lettuce, berries, okra, yucca, broccoli, seasonal apples and other goodies that entice Toronto residents. Customers can peruse the shelves outside, or enter the bus, which is set up like a miniature farmer’s market store. The greatest part of LGA’s veggie bus is its reach and ability to deliver healthy foods right to the customer.
